Registration is now underway for the Winter Fit for Life diabetes prevention class, which is open to adults who qualify. The first class begins on Wednesday, January 10th. To register or for more information, please call (740) 922-7450, ext. 2124!

Qualifying adults include the following only: have a mother, father, sister, or brother with diabetes; had gestational diabetes; had a baby over 9 pounds; or scored high on the American Diabetes Association Diabetes Risk Test which is available on the health risk screening button of this hospital website home page. Also, adults diagnosed with Type II diabetes within the past 12 months qualify. Those who have had diabetes for more than 12 months do not qualify.

Fit for Life provides the means to educate, motivate, and inspire you to make positive lifestyle change to improve your overall health.  Average participants lose weight and experience positive changes in health status such as lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

The Diabetes Prevention Fit for Life program also provides fun prizes for participants as well as the opportunity to work with personal trainers from the Tuscarawas County YMCA and experts from Chrysalis Counseling Center.

Led by Dr. Tim McKnight, Board Certified Family Physician, Fit for Life classes take place once weekly for 12 weeks. The curriculum emphasizes realistic lifestyle changes, resulting in enhanced levels of health and fitness. Some of the class topics include stress management, the wellness choice, nutrition for life, eat to live, food labels, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility fitness, strength fitness, disease prevention, healthy aging and more!

Don't wait. The fall session starts on Wednesday, January 10th. This winter class will meet at Trinity Hospital Twin City's first floor St. Francis Conference Center.
