DENNISON—In recognition of October as National Breast Cancer Awareness month, Trinity Hospital Twin City is inviting all area residents to “In the Pink,” a free health fair to combat breast cancer through education, awareness and survivor recognition. The event also includes guest speakers, survivor recognition and a walk by candlelight. In the Pink will take place on Thursday, October 25th from 5 to 7 pm at the hospital’s St. Francis Conference Center on the first floor of the facility at 819 N. First Street.

In the Pink includes an open house style health and information fair between 5 and 6 pm where attendees will enjoy complimentary refreshments, receive a free goody bag with health information, learn about breast health and women’s screenings, and sign up to win door prizes. At 6 pm, Dr. Walter Randolph III, a Board Certified gynecologist from the Trinity Medical Group, will speak about women’s health; local breast cancer survivor Gracie Murphy and her friend Jan Thomas will share a story about how their friendship played a vital role in Murphy’s experience; and Lori Dallecheisa, Occupational Therapist, Certified Mastectomy Fitter and Certified Lymphedema Therapist from Medi-Wise Pharmacy in Newcomerstown, will make recommendations on products to help patients live with breast cancer.

Following the speakers, the Trinity Hospital Twin City Foundation will present a check to the hospital for the new mammography machine, and all breast cancer survivors will be recognized with a small gift. At 6:45 pm, a brief tour of the hospital’s new mammography suite and a walk by candlelight will take place around the outside of the hospital building to honor those who are currently battling breast cancer and to remember those who have battled breast cancer. Pastor Jill Barlock will lead the group in a special prayer at the walk by candlelight.

The “In the Pink” health fair at Trinity Hospital Twin City is being made possible thanks to support from the hospital’s United Volunteer Auxiliary and Community Outreach and Imaging Departments. To register for this free event and/or to be acknowledged as a breast cancer survivor, call (740) 922-7450, ext. 2124 or e-mail kbowe@trinitytwincity.org by noon on Thursday, October 25th.

“During breast cancer awareness month, we want to take the opportunity to not only support the cause by wearing pink but also to encourage women to learn about the importance of self-exams and mammography screenings,” shared Tiffany Poland, Director of Community Outreach. “We encourage everyone to attend and wear something pink to demonstrate unity while we combat breast cancer through education, awareness and survivor recognition.”
