“Trinity Hospital Twin City to Host Free Alzheimer’s & Dementia Mini Seminar on

Thursday, May 23rd”

DENNISON—More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, and nearly one in three seniors who dies each year has Alzheimer’s or another dementia. As part of Mental Health Awareness month this May, Trinity Hospital Twin City has teamed up with Ten Lakes Center to provide a free educational mini seminar on Thursday, May 23rd from 6 to 7 pm at the hospital’s first floor St. Francis Conference Room. The public is invited to attend the “Always Remember—Free Alzheimer’s & Dementia Mini Seminar.” Those who attend will receive healthy snacks, the chance to win door prizes, educational information and the opportunity to hear from Jeff Doig, Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and Administrator of Ten Lakes Center.

Doig will present an in-depth informational discussion about the definitions and differences between Alzheimer’s and Dementia. He will also share the warning signs and symptoms and describe prevention and treatment methods. Those who are experiencing memory loss or who have a loved one grappling with memory loss are especially encouraged to attend.

“Almost everyone knows someone or has known someone who has or has had Alzheimer’s disease, and this event provides a valuable opportunity to raise awareness and provide help for those affected by this devastating disease,” explained Tiffany Poland, Trinity Hospital Twin City Director of Community Outreach. “We are fortunate to partner with the mental health experts at Ten Lakes Center to spread the message about the importance of early detection of this disease. Early detection provides the maximum benefit from available treatments, allows more time to plan for the future and provides help for family members.”
