Thanks to the recent opening of the new Trinity Hospital Twin City Center for Wound Management, relief is now in sight for area residents who suffer from wounds that are not able to heal through traditional treatment methods. The center is led by Medical Director Dr. Jon Oliverio, MD, and Clinical Director, Ruthann Belknap, RN.

Through the Center for Wound Management, adults who need a higher level of care for the treatment of wounds (such as diabetic foot ulcers, bed sores, abdominal wounds and other open wounds) that are not responding to traditional treatments can benefit from specialized procedures which enhance and shorten the healing process.  “There are a number of people in our area with wound care needs that had to travel elsewhere for treatment, and we are happy to offer these services locally to make healthcare more accessible for them,” explained Belknap. “Our goal is to achieve healing within twelve weeks or less.”

The typical wound management patient generally receives advance treatment from the hospital’s wound care specialists once a week, and services are covered by most insurances as well as Medicare and Medicaid.

Wound care services are available by appointment on weekdays at the Outpatient Services Building, located near the helipad at 6408 McKee Road on the hospital’s main campus.
