Diabetes Wellness Services
Help is available for those who have diabetes. Trinity Health System Twin City Medical Center offers diabetes wellness services for individuals who are newly diagnosed with diabetes or those who have had diabetes and need an update on controlling diabetes. Support persons such as family and friends are encouraged to attend. Individual and group sessions are made possible in part thanks to a grant from the U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration Office of Rural Health Policy.
Help provided during sessions includes the following:
- Overview of what diabetes is and how it affects the body
- Monitoring blood sugar
- Healthy eating
- Being active
- Problem solving
- Reducing risks of complications
- Healthy coping and managing stress
- Screening for diabetes risk
- Healthy lifestyle changes for those with pre-diabetes
- And more!
Education sessions are at the Trinity Medical Group offices located at the hospital and at various community meeting sites. We also offer a free monthly support group meeting. Click here to visit our calendar of events to find the date and time of our next meeting.
