We provide high-quality clinical laboratory services for hospital inpatients and outpatients of all ages on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. Our Laboratory Services Department is staffed by an experienced team of lab professionals. Phlebotomists are trained in the collection and processing of blood specimens. Medical Technicians and Technologists are college-educated professionals who specialize in clinical laboratory science. They are the ones who run the tests, assess the quality of the results, and report them to your physician or medical provider. Pathologists are physicians who specialize in laboratory medicine and provide medical leadership to the laboratory. They can help your physician/provider order the correct test(s) and assist with the interpretation of the results.

Laboratory test results impact more than 70% of healthcare decisions!

Diagnostic laboratory testing plays a crucial role in the detection, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of disease and aid the ordering physician in monitoring the treatment and maintenance of their patients. All patients are required to have a doctor or medical provider’s order to perform lab work. It is not required for the provider to be affiliated with Trinity Health System. Correct diagnostic and therapeutic decisions rely on timely and accurate laboratory testing. We work closely with your medical provider to assure the best patient care. Results are reported directly to your physician/provider.

We are on duty 24 hours a day.

Please call us with any questions or concerns that you may have regarding our laboratory services or tests that you are preparing for or collecting at home. You can reach us at (740) 922-7450, ext 2208.

It is a good idea to keep a record of your lab results for future reference and comparison. If a lab result is abnormal, it should be discussed with your physician/provider who might recommend repeating the test and/or running some additional testing to determine the cause of the abnormality.

Most routine testing is performed here and in most cases your physician/provider will have your test results in 1-2 days. For more specialized testing, it may take a little longer to get results.

To obtain your test results, please call your physician/provider’s office and ask for an explanation of your test results. You can also obtain a copy of your results by coming into our medical records dept. The lab cannot communicate results directly to the patient on the phone or in person.

Types of Laboratory Tests:

Hematology is the study of blood cells.  There are 3 kinds of cells in the bloodstream:

  • Red cells transport oxygen from the lungs to other parts of the body
  • White cells are vital in fighting infection
  • Platelets help stop bleeding by forming “plugs” in the vessels.

Routine Chemistry tests include:

  • Glucose is measured for the diagnosis and monitoring of Diabetes Mellitus.
  • Bun and Creatinine are tests of kidney function.
  • Sodium and Potassium are salt balance tests.
  • Bilirubin, ALP, ALT, AST and GGT are liver function tests.
  • Total Protein and Albumin provide information about liver function, kidney disease, infection, nutrition, and certain disorders of the antibody producing cells.
  • TSH, Free T4 and Free T3 detect disorders of the thyroid gland.

Coagulation testing is ordered to rule-out a bleeding disorder.  Some people take anticoagulants to prevent their blood from clotting too quickly.  The PTINR is used to monitor these medications.

The Microbiology lab helps to find what microbe is causing an infection and how it should be treated.

Urinalysis is a common evaluation used to detect diabetes, liver disease, kidney and bladder diseases, and infection.  The urine may be examined under a microscope to confirm findings.
