Hospital to Host Free Heart Health Event

              In recognition of February as American Heart Month, Trinity Hospital Twin City is hosting a free “Love Your Heart” event for area residents at 6:30 pm on Thursday, February 13th at the hospital’s first floor St. Francis Conference room. Those who attend will receive a free blood pressure screening, free mini massages, healthy snacks, small gifts, educational information and the opportunity to hear from the hospital’s team of board certified cardiologists Dr. Mohammad A. Jan of Trinity Medical Group and Dr. Ramana Murty of Trinity Health System .

                “We wanted to offer the community the chance to learn more about heart health,” shared Tiffany Poland, Trinity Hospital Twin City Director of Community Outreach. “Heart disease is the leading cause of death in our region, and we feel it is our hospital’s responsibility to educate the public and help save lives. We want to empower people to better manage their health and reduce the risk of heart problems by eating healthy, managing stress and staying active.”

                Dr. Jan and Dr. Murty will discuss heart disease prevention and also participate in a question and answer session with the audience at the event. Dr. Jan has over 35 years experience providing heart care, and he specializes in EKGs, stress testing, echocardiography, holter monitoring and tilt table testing. He has earned distinction as a Fellow in the American College of Cardiologists. Dr. Murty is also a Fellow in the American College of Cardiologists and has over 35 years of cardiology experience. Dr. Murty provides pacemaker insertion services, and Dr. Jan provides pacemaker monitoring services at Trinity Hospital Twin City.

                Trinity Medical Group’s new nurse practitioners, Derek Jason Brock, CNP; Katelyn Obermiller, CNP; and Amanda Scott, CNP, will provide educational information at the Love Your Heart event to help participants learn how to eat healthy, manage stress and increase their activity levels. Free mini massages will be provided by licensed massage therapists Theresa Graziani and Chris Noble.
