Trinity Hospital Twin City Named to Top 20 Critical Access Hospital List

DENNISON- Trinity Hospital Twin City was recently named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) for quality in the country.

The Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals, including Trinity Hospital Twin City, scored best among the nation’s 1,300 critical access hospitals in iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength Index™ for quality. The rankings were recently announced by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). An awards ceremony will be held during NRHA’s Critical Access Hospital Conference in October in Kansas City, Mo.

Those hospitals that have been recognized as Top 20 Critical Access Hospital “best practice recipients” have achieved success in one of three key areas of performance:

  • Quality index: A rating of hospital performance based on the percentile rank across the five categories of Hospital Compare Process of Care measures.
  • Patient perspective index: A rating of hospital performance based on the percentile rank on two Hospital Compare HCAHPS measures (“Overall Rating” and “Highly Recommend)”.
  • Financial stability index: A rating of hospital performance based on the percentile rank on a set of balance sheet and income statement financial ratios.
  • Overall: A rating based on the average rating among all pillars of strength.

The Top 20 Critical Access Hospital “winners” are those hospitals who have achieved success in the overall performance based on a composite rating of all ten of iVantage’s indices of strength.

“We are proud of the efforts of our providers and staff who have contributed to our hospital achieving this designation,” said Joe Mitchell, Trinity Hospital Twin City President. “Being recognized as a top critical access hospital for quality of care means our community can count on us to deliver the services they need now and in the future. This honor marks the third major recognition for us this year, and we will continue to strive to maintain the highest quality of care.”

Trinity Hospital Twin City was named “Healthcare Organization of the Month” for January 2015 by the Studer Group, and the hospital earned accreditation by the Joint Commission in February.
